SCIENCE UNDER AUTOMATION
AI in Climate science: inherited autonomy and field demands
Explain and project changes in the climate system.
Autonomy
Up to 4.4 / 10
Inherited from Earth & environmental science. This is the parent’s upper-bound scenario, not a separate assessment of climate science.
The value follows its parent automatically until this field receives its own assessment.
Parent assessment
Analyse observations and produce an environmental prediction
- Retrieve and combine the appropriate geospatial observations
- Produce a forecast from available state information
- Check spatial validity and model outputs
Test a new process with field observations
- Design and carry out physical sampling
- Choose measurements that distinguish causal processes
- Validate across sites, instruments and conditions
